We would like to extend a deep heart felt Thank You to all of our generous members, because of you our VFW Post 4249 had another successful Thanksgiving Dinner. We fed approximately 120 people and from the feed back we heard, everyone was pleased with how tasty it was and how nice the hall looked. Our goal as a team was to give people a place to gather with good homemade food and feel ‘at home’ as much as possible. We believe that was accomplished. Although that was our goal we were also able to raise a substantial amount of money that was 100% donated to VFW Post 4249 along with a report of all donations, cost & turned into Commander Boutell. The team is made up of a mix of members, not just one auxiliary or only post members – it was a blend of members coming together. This year we had an unexpected ‘greeter’ and would like to give a very special Thank You to Ginger Malone. Having someone sitting at the door to greet everyone that walked in gave an instant feeling of “welcome”.
The 2013 Thanksgiving Team
The Veterans Day 2013 ceremony went off, as scheduled, at 11:00 a.m. We had a little smaller crowd than years past, but the weather wasn’t very nice. The first snow of the year probably prompted many to stay home. Six veterans of the month were honored. The post also presented a framed certificate of appreciation to Carol Reihl for her six years of contribution to that program. Carol not only fielded each and every candidate, but she also did the interview and wrote the article for each and every one of the 73 Veterans of the Month. Great job Carol. As the certificate says, Post 4249 thanks you. We will post photos in the next few days.
We also held the raffle drawing for the 15.6 cu. ft. refrigerator. Final figures are not in yet but the post made somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 in the raffle. Carol Reihl drew the winning ticket, which had the name Dan Boutell written on it. We wish to thank not only all who purchased tickets, but also everyone who sold tickets to friends, relatives, and customers.
As you can see, we are putting our gracious sponsors directly on the content pages. Doing so gives them greater exposure and greater value.
The hit counter at the bottom of the pages is fully functional. It does look different than what you might be used to seeing, though.
