October, 2018

This year is going to be over before long. We had a very busy month last month and everything went quite well. The chicken BBQ went okay with the lack of workers. The post appreciation day went good and the Honor Guard fish fry as was the Steak Fry and Burritos.
October 1 is the first day of bow season. Good luck to all you bow hunters.
The fish fry is the 5th. Steak Fry is the 13th., which I’m sure we will need help and burrito’s the 27. (Cancelled)
We are having Thanksgiving Dinner and need donations. Turkeys, potatoes, and dessert, and help. We will get a list of what we need on paper. We have a jar for Thanksgiving monies for supplies like turkeys and vegetables.
Dick Mouthaan passed as you have already heard. He was a pillar to the post.
Sorry the newsletter was delayed. I was on the sick roster. It feels good to be on the mending end. I am trying to put a steak fry together for the weekend of the 13th. the snow birds are starting to leave, so that means cold weather is around. I’ll close this so Dan can get it copied off.
God Bless our troops at home and abroad.
Larry Reid,
Commander VFW Post 4249

As you all probably already know, Joanne has recently been in the hospital and is now home doing better. We will let her speak for herself when she is up to it.
