September 2021
September, 2021

There is no fish fry this month due to the Holiday. It doesn’t pay to do it.
Our regular monthly meeting is the 9th. PLEASE NOTE that the starting time is changed to 5 P.M.
I would like to thank Larry Terbeek for the entertainment at our steak fry’s.
Our Post Chaplain, Ted Bertrand passed away on the 26th of August..
School is back in session, so please, watch for kids and pay attention to the red flashing lights on the busses.
Steak fry is the Auxiliary’s this month and it falls on the 11th. The 20th anniversary of what America seems to have forgotten. A series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Wahhabi Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
I’m sorry for the loss of our troops and civilians that died in Afghanistan. I hope and pray that nothing further happens on the anniversary of 9/11.
Pray for our troops and Americans abroad..
Be safe and enjoy life.
Larry Reid,
Commander VFW Post 4249
Hard to believe that it’s Labor Day weekend already! Fall is just around the corner.
The Auxiliary will be doing the steak fry this month September 11th.
The Auxiliary will be holding their monthly meeting Monday, September 13th@ 6:00.
Keep an eye on the activities calendar and come and help and participate when you can.
We are looking forward to getting new members and working with all of you at the different activities.
Have a blessed holiday weekend!
Jim O’Neil
President, VFW 4249 Auxiliary
AMVETS will be hosting the October steak fry on the 9th, so please start planning accordingly. We hope to have Larry Terbeek with his karaoke for entertainment. Many don’t know it, but, our own Jim Hart is the person who originally brought Larry to the Post.
Jim is AMVETS of Michigan District 5 Commander as well. Additionally, he along with several VFW Auxiliary members is the moving force behind the Wednesday and Sunday pool tournaments that have been instrumental in keeping the posts cash flow moving in the positive direction.
Sorry for turning my section of this months newsletter into a mini-Veteran-of-the-month, but there really isn’t a lot going on locally right now.
Department has fall conferences coming up. They have switched to the east side of the State after the last five years being in Grand Rapids. I don’t have schedules yet so I can’t pass then on.
Have a great month.
Dan Boutell
Commander, AMVETS Post 4250
