February 2023
The February steak fry will be held on Saturday the 11th and is hosted by the AMVETS.
The new pull-tab machine was brought in a couple of weeks ago and it appears to be very popular with our patrons.
The Euchre group continues to meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6:30 and is open to all Euchre players.
The February post meeting is Thursday the 9th at 5 p.m.
Bill Simon,
Commander VFW Post 4249
I hope that you are enjoying your winter wonderland here in Michigan or wherever you are.
The Auxiliary will be having their monthly fish and shrimp fry Friday, February 3rd
from 5:00-7:00.
The Auxiliary will be holding their monthly meeting Thursday, February 16th @ 7:00. Please come out for the meeting because we need at least 5 people in order to hold a meeting. Thank you.
Some of us in the Auxiliary will be participating in the VFW Auxiliary state pool tournament the last weekend of February in Alpena.
Keep an eye on the activities calendar. Please help when you can.
We are looking forward to getting new members and working with all of you at the different activities. With the new members and officers that joined the Post, the Auxiliary would welcome any eligible family members to join.
Stay warm and be safe!
Jim O’Neil
President, VFW 4249 Auxiliary
Our February meeting is on the Tuesday the 7th at 7 p.m. where we will continue discussing our membership and how to increase it. Of course if we could get the members that we already have to be a little more active that would be a big step in the right direction.
At the AMVETS Department of Michigan level much effort is being put into Higgins Lake Lodge. If you have never been there it is a really great place to spend a few days on beautiful Higgins Lake. All of the cabins and rooms have been refreshed and painted. They are also in the process of getting online booking working. It should be up and running within the next week or two.
Our Post will be hosting the Steak Fry this month. As always it falls on the second Saturday and if you are available, we can use the help.
Have a great month!
Dan Boutell
Commander, AMVETS Post 4250
