February 2024
The U.of M. football fans were able to see them win at the Rose Bowl and the National Championship game.
For those that don’t already know, Dick Knowles has resigned as Quartermaster of Post 4249. Cale Rogers was appointed Quartermaster. In a special election at our January meeting he was nominated and elected Quartermaster, thus leaving the 1st Vice Commander position open. 2nd Vice Commander Stan Wiggers, as per bylaws, assumes the 1st Vice Commander position.
This leaves the 2nd Vice Commander position open. We will be holding a nomination and election for the 2nd Vice Commander at our February meeting, at which time we will be swearing in new post officers.
We still need more member participation, as this post is run by volunteers. Most notedly is Wednesday night Burgers and More. Burgers and More is now being handled, in a very large part by the Cronk family. This situation will not last forever, as they would like some relief in the near future.
Wednesday night burgers has always been a stalwart event at this post. Please consider stepping up to help continue this tradition.
The February steak fry will be Saturday the 10th, and is host by the AMVETS. Entertainment will be provided by Victor.
Cornhole tournaments are being held on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. Pool leagues are Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. Euchre starts at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Fridays at 6:30. Euchre is open to all who wish to play.
The February Post meeting is on Thursday the 8th. All members are encourage to attend as we have important business to attend to this month.
Bill Simon,
Commander VFW Post 4249
The Auxiliary will be having their monthly fish and shrimp fry on Friday, February 2.
We will be holding our monthly meeting Thursday, February 15h @ 7:00. Please come to the meeting because we need at least 5 people to hold a meeting. Thank you.
Keep an eye on the activities calendar. Please help when you can.
We are looking forward to getting new members and working with all of you on the different activities. With the new members and officers that joined the Post, the Auxiliary would welcome any eligible family members to join.
Stay healthy and safe!
Larry Sharp
Auxiliary President
