December 2016
December, 2016 Newsletter

Andrew, a veteran, works for Life EMS of Newaygo County and Sara is a Newaygo County 911 Dispatcher. Both also serve as firefighters on the Newaygo Fire Department.
The event is from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be music, auction, 50-50 drawings as well the spaghetti dinner. I am encouraging all of our members of both posts and Auxiliaries to come help support the Bird family.
As 2016 winds down, I think that the Post has had a pretty good year financially. We were able to sell the ball field property which enables a much larger portion of our payment each month to go towards the principle. This, of course, will help pay the entire mortgage off much quicker.
As far as actual member participation in meetings, etc. we are continuing to flat line. I brought up last month that we are going to have a couple of significant openings in our officer ranks when we send in our next election report. It’s truly a shame that as far as we have come financially, we will still fall short because of memberships apparent apathy.
December 31, 2016 is the last official day that the Men’s Auxiliary will be in existence. As I have been saying, this is not that important if you never go to any other VFW posts. However, if you do, you will need a VFWA membership card to enter.
Here’s wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We won’t be doing burritos this month because the 4th Saturday is Christmas Eve. They will resume in January, but with a different band. The one that we were using broke up.
Have a great month!
