November 2019
November, 2019

We have a pretty busy month in November. The 1st is fish fry. The 2nd , Ashland-Grant Fire Department will have their annual spaghetti dinner. The 9th is the Auxiliary Steak Fry. The 11th is our Veterans Day program and luncheon. The 16th is AMVETS Hunters Breakfast. Not quite sure of the complete menu.
I would like to thank Dave from Moe’s Hardware and Grant Harvest Fest for their donation that was the leftovers from Harvest Fest. A big thank you.
I would also like to thank David Buck for the replica of The Declaration of Independence that he donated to the post.
We had extra bills this month. A fifty-one hundred dollar tax bill and $1000 for pull tab machines. That’s on top of all of the normal expenses. It would be nice if our other units could help.
I’m hoping that I can get our Thanksgiving Dinner for the community on track. We can use more donations of food, deserts, and monetary donations.
I’m going to give you a heads up. GM Wood Products is having their annual Christmas party on December 11. The post will be closed to all except them that day.
I guess that I have rattled on enough. Our snowbirds have gone. Would like for us roughers (that can stand winter) to help keep the post surviving by visiting it as much as we can.
I hope everyone has a safe Holiday and a good one.
God bless our troops home and deployed, and everyone in our families in America.

Commander VFW Post 4249
Well its time to get ready for winter, looks like it’s here already.
We had another successful fish fry another one Nov 1st hope to see more volunteers.
The next steak fry will be Nov 9th looking for volunteers.
Veterans Day Nov.11 Hope everyone attends.
We added another pool table to the club, has helped in reducing the time we played.

Our Riders Chapter has been partnered with Michigan Blood for almost the last year holding blood drives every other month. The last blood drive that they will conduct will be on Thursday Nov. 21 from 2-7 p.m. If you have not already scheduled a time to give, drop-ins are welcome.
Out Hunters Breakfast is on the 16th from 5 am to 10 am. We have a hearty menu planned, so get there early and you’ll have plenty of time to eat and still be in the woods before sunrise.
The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency serves as the central coordinating point, connecting those who have served in the Armed Forces and their families to services and benefits throughout the state of Michigan.
They are conducting Listening Sessions where you can have your voice heard and get valuable information on federal and state benefits and services that may be available to you. The closest one to us is in Muskegon on Saturday, November 12 at 10 a.m. For more information, visit their website at MichiganVeterans.com. There, you can view the full schedule of sessions that they have planned for St. Johns, Detroit, Muskegon, Taylor, Warren, Bloomfield Township, Ypsilanti, Flint and Saginaw.
We are hoping that enough people will contribute food and other donations for Thanksgiving dinner.
Have a great month!
